ASHRAE 110 Fume Hood Testing
The ASHRAE 110 standard is used by fume hood manufacturers during development and design (As Manufactured testing), during installation to determine criteria for fume hood performance in a new laboratory (As Installed testing), and as a diagnostic tool to identify problems in an existing fume hood / HVAC system installation (As Used testing). Beyond the initial installation testing, OHSA also requires Fumes Hoods to be tested annually (every 12-months) to ensure the safety of employees while working within a fume hood.
The following testing parameters are included in ASHRAE 110 Fume Hood Testing:

WHEN ARE ASHREA 110 TESTING SERVICES REQUIRED?

OSHA Recommends performing ASHREA 110 Testing:

ANNUALLY to protect employees operating in high risk chemical environments
-
After a new fume hood is installed and BEFORE 1st use
-
Anytime a change is made to the fume hood, or
-
to associated equipment that could cause air flow disruption in and around the fume hood
